MEET SPENCER

Hi, I’m Spencer. I'm the owner of Chick & Ruth's Delly, a community advocate, and a proud Virginia Tech grad (Go Hokies!). I live in Crofton with my fiancée Alyssa. I’m running for County Council because we need common sense leadership to keep Anne Arundel affordable for all.

I’m the proud son of Keith Jones and Alison Selleck. My parents are no longer with us, but they instilled the values of hard work, compassion, and integrity in me. Those values drive me today. My mom was a primary care doctor who really cared. She had a special way of connecting to her patients. My dad worked his way to school, a career in healthcare admin, and a late shift to the restaurant business. In 2012 my dad bought his first Five Guys store in Virginia. In 2016 a territory of four stores in Anne Arundel county came up for sale. He bought the stores and immediately fell in love with Anne Arundel county, and eating at Chick & Ruth's. When Chick & Ruth’s came up for sale he jumped at the opportunity to take over the restaurant.

I graduated college in late 2019 with a degree in the riveting field of statistics. After graduation I took a job working healthcare IT in Wisconsin. In January of 2021, my dad unexpectedly passed away. I moved back east, settled in Crofton and took over the restaurants. I had no restaurant experience, there was no planned succession, and we were in the middle of the pandemic. Talk about getting thrown in the deep end! I had a great team and support system that got me through it. Those were the hardest months of my life, but they taught me a lesson. If I can survive that, I can take on any challenge.

Our community needs someone who can take on challenges. The cost of living is skyrocketing, families and small businesses are struggling. I’m running because our county needs leaders who understand these struggles and are ready to act. I’ll fight to make life more affordable, cut red tape for small businesses, and keep our community safe. I’m running because I want to give back to the community that’s given so much to me. Our country, state, and county are at a crossroads, I don’t want to look back at this moment and wonder if I could’ve done more.

Please join me in this fight to better our community. If you can knock doors, come knock with us, if you can’t knock, call or text or write postcards to voters. If you can afford to, please donate. I can’t do this alone, but together we can deliver a better future for all.
